EFC-Every Foot Counts!!!

EFC was started with the vision of saving "feet". Every time we are out on the streets we fail to notice all those feet that are boldly tolerating the scorching heat of the sun, silently putting up with the pain when harsh stuff penetrates through, giving us a feel that nothing really is wrong.Just think for a moment how it would be to walk all over the city without footwear.Unimaginable! Actually the thought of helping people with footwear does not strike many of us because we dont know at all how many people out there are bare footed.

This struck our team when we went to donate slippers on 26th. We were actually amazed at how many people we found without footwear, sole reason being that they could not afford( read upcomin blogs for more on this).Though we could reach out to around 250 people in 2 hours, we realized how many thousands are left whom we did not reach out to. Hence we aim to expand this mission and bigger the team, all the more better.Do keep visiting the site regularly to know how you can contribute. Lets put in our best in reaching out to as many people as we can and spread smiles coz remember EVERY FOOT COUNTS!!!

Inception of the concept

The great initiative – “eBIZ footwear campaign” (EFC) taken by the organization eBIZ.Com Pvt. Ltd., on the republic day this 2010 is totally unique and one of its kind. We have contributed to the society previously by conducting computer awareness camps, blood donation camps, inspirational talks and so on, but now the idea was to do something that not many would have thought of, let alone doing! So how did this entire concept of EFC occur? It was when Ms. Akshata Prabhu (Diamond associate in eBIZ and a pass out from RVCE) was reading through a text, & she came across an article about a person who happens do small little things here n there for people, for his personal satisfaction, One of which was donating a slipper to an individual walking bare-footed. She discussed this with Er. Sujit Lalwani(diplomat in ebiz.com, OneYoungWorld delegate and an inspirational speaker)who then took a vision of saving as many feet, undergoing pain and this finally took the shape of EFC.

We think of helping the poor with food, clothes, books or generally money. But we hardly notice that most of them walk miles together for their living, every single day in the hot sun, on the dirty and uneven roads without footwear. So why not provide them with protection to their feet so that they walk extra miles?! If one person could think of making a difference to the underprivileged in this way, Sujit ji thought, how big a difference, we as a huge team could make to the hundreds of people around us. And thus the idea was a reality on 26th Jan, 2010. We as a team of more than 50 youngsters in Bangalore and 15 in Chennai took the first step towards this mission. The visions are so huge that this is not even the beginning. “Lots more to come”

Do read the further articles for the proceedings, excitement, fun, learning, future visions and so on. I would love to see the comments flowing in.

Chief Editor's Note

We all grow up during our childhood having lots of dreams in our mind not knowing when they’ll be achieved and how they’ll be achieved, infact sometimes doubting their completion itself. We would have gone through experiences where we realized that we were lucky enough to get a normal childhood, that everyone deserves, having seen other people in a condition, they don’t even deserve(people deprived of basic amenities) and suddenly a thought in our mind comes that we should do something for the needy in the future. But what we realize after we grow up is that, we have our own issues to be dealt with, let alone the needy. Day by day the world is becoming more and more selfish, poor are becoming poorer and the rich are becoming richer. The gap is ever increasing. It surely takes an extra effort from our daily schedules to even think about doing something for the needy, let alone doing.

In this regard, I really appreciate an upcoming NGO called EFC which is a team of young energetic individuals, who strive to pull out time out of their very busy schedules and take initiative to do something few have done till date(rather very few). With a very innovative and creative idea of serving the poor in a different way, team leader Mr. Sujit Lalwani through his team of leaders launched a campaign called Ebiz Footware Campaign(EFC) at the Freedom Park in Bangalore on the 62nd Republic Day of India 26th .January 2010.

On this first day of the launch - The task of every team of two people was to disperse in any direction form the park and search for at least nine needy people who bear the daily pain of walking bare feet in the scorching heat day in and day out and make their day by gifting them a pair of slippers and blessing them by involving them in a photograph to capture an emotional moment which will be remembered life long.

With this initiative, approximately 240 people were gifted new slippers all over Bangalore, covering people from downtrodden sector, from various backgrounds ranging from ragpickers to beggars to people left without attention. With this, we expect the number to rise in the coming times and make an effort to touch at least three thousand people the coming year.

I look forward to see this vision truly growing global and leaving a lasting impact, saving a million feet and protecting them and leaving smiling faces with the owners of those feet.

Long live this revolution.
